About Hayland
Hayland is a ghost town in northern Adams County, about 1.6 miles south-southwest of Prosser. Only a large grain elevator remains.
History
The town began in 1912–13 as Meyersville on the Hastings & Northwestern Railroad, the Burlington’s “Gibbon cutoff,” and was renamed for the prairie hay land around it. A bank opened on August 1, 1913, and the post office ran from 1914 to 1943. The school closed in 1942.
