About Bostwick
Bostwick is an unincorporated community in southwestern Nuckolls County, about 7 miles west-northwest of Superior and 8 miles east-southeast of Guide Rock, on the old Burlington line in the Republican valley.
History
A post office opened here as Irving in August 1885 and was renamed Bostwick that November. No one is sure where the name came from; it probably honors a Burlington official. In 1890 Bostwick was a station on the Burlington's Republican Valley line with about 125 people, a grain elevator, a hotel, a lumber company and a hardware store, and its population peaked at 157 in 1920. The post office closed in 1969 (some sources say 1970).
