Two Nebraska historical markers on US 26, about 4 miles west of Morrill and 2½ miles east of Henry, describe "The Great Smoke," the council of 8,000 to 12,000 Plains Indians held at the mouth of Horse Creek in September 1851. The treaty signed there on September 17, 1851, is known as the Fort Laramie or Horse Creek Treaty. A "Road to Zion" marker on the Mormon Trail stands beside them.
