The Gosper County Courthouse, 507 Smith Ave. in Elwood, is an Art Deco building of red brick and limestone designed by McClure & Walker of Kearney. Voters approved a $42,000 bond in August 1938, a Public Works Administration grant paid 45 percent, and the courthouse was dedicated on November 9, 1939 — one of seven Nebraska courthouses built with federal work programs. It replaced the frame courthouse that followed the 1895 fire of the old Homerville courthouse, which had been moved to Elwood in 1889. It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since July 5, 1990. County clerk (308) 785-2611.
