Red Cloud's Burlington Depot was built in 1897, when the town was a busy division point on the railroad. The railroad sold it in 1965, and the salvage firm's owner gave it to the Willa Cather Foundation, which moved it from the tracks and dedicated it in 1970. It was restored in 2021–22 and in 2026 houses the exhibit All Aboard: West Bound Trains and American Culture. National Register, 1981. Ask at the National Willa Cather Center, 413 N. Webster St., in Red Cloud.
