Bee sits in northeastern Seward County along Nebraska Spur 80B (S80B), about 9 miles northeast of Seward via Nebraska Highway 15. Nearby towns include Garland (about 8 miles southeast) and Dwight (about 8 miles north, in Butler County). Seward County borders Butler, Lancaster, Saline, Fillmore, York, and Polk Counties.

Bee was established in 1887 when the Chicago and North Western Railroad expanded to the area, and takes its name from its location in “B Township.”

Nicknamed the “Honey of a Town,” Bee had a 2020 population of 171 and is home to the dodecagonal States Ballroom, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Points of Interest & Events

The States Ballroom, a domed-ceiling dance hall listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the heart of the village. Its annual Barn Dance, hosted by the Bee Volunteer Fire Department, has been a local tradition for more than 90 years and features live polka music and a raffle.
