Humboldt is a city in Richardson County, Nebraska, platted in 1868 and incorporated in 1873. It takes its name from Humboldt, Tennessee, where an early settler had stayed while serving in the Civil War.
With 800 residents at the 2020 Census, Humboldt preserves its NRHP-listed John Holman House and Commercial Historic District, and counts among its notable natives two U.S. ambassadors, a U.S. Representative, and the man pictured as "Three Ball Charlie" on a Rolling Stones album cover.
