Bartley is a village in Red Willow County, Nebraska, platted in 1886 when the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad extended to the site. The village is named for Rev. Bartley's best-known landmark is the historic Bartley Sales Barn, built 1919–1921 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its role in the region's agricultural and commercial history — it operated as a livestock auction barn from 1921 to 1964 at the southwest corner of US Highways 6 and 34 and Commercial Street. Bartley also sits along the Republican River, which passes near town (a USGS stream gauge, "Republican River at Bartley," monitors the river here); the village withstood the catastrophic June 1935 Republican River flood that devastated much of the valley.
