History

Irish settlers came first to the Rock Creek area, followed by Danes and Swedes after 1862. Davey was founded in 1886 on the Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley Railroad (later the Chicago & North Western) and named for pioneer Michael Davey. A fire in 1919 that started at the Catholic church destroyed the Farmers State Bank and the telephone office. Davey Hall was built as a WPA project in the 1930s. The last train ran in 1981.
