History
The Midland Pacific Railway built across Mr. Cheney’s land in 1868, and Cheney’s Station was created in 1871. The town was platted in 1874, when its first school was built, and a post office opened in 1876. It keeps a triangular street plan from the railroad. The 1890 gazetteer gave about 100 people.
