Nebraska's Unlikely BBQ Destination

Winnetoon has a population of around 47 people. Every year on the first Saturday of August, nearly 1,000 of them show up — from across Nebraska and beyond — for the Winnetoon BBQ. Free food, live music, a parade, and raffle prizes make this one of the most remarkable small-town events in the state.

What to Expect

The afternoon opens with a car show, followed by a kiddie parade, then the free-will-donation BBQ dinner with live music running into the evening. Two raffle drawings — a main prize raffle and a kids' raffle — cap off the night, along with a bounce house for the kids.

Location: Main Street by Elaine's Tavern, Winnetoon, Nebraska.

BBQ Menu

Free will donation. Menu includes Pork BBQ Sandwich, Hot Dog, Grandma Pam's Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Chips, Pop & Water.

How It Started

The Winnetoon BBQ began as a community effort to support Elaine's Tavern, the town's local restaurant. What started as a local fundraiser has grown into an annual tradition that puts Winnetoon on the map every summer.
