Windmill State Recreation Area, 2625 Lowell Rd. at I-80 Exit 285 south of Gibbon, is named for its antique windmills. It has six lakes (trout stocked in Lake 2 in October and March), a beach, an 18-hole disc golf course, an archery range, a nature trail and a crane blind open March 1 to April 15.
