Pressey Wildlife Management Area lies on both sides of NE 21 along the South Loup River, about 5 miles north of Oconto. Henry E. Pressey gave about 1,700 acres to the state on May 6, 1930. It has river frontage, a fishing pond, a shooting range, restrooms and free camping with electric hookups (14-day limit; check current status after the 2026 fire), and is open for hunting. The Pressey Fire of April 2026 burned about 9,100 acres in the area; Game and Parks reopened the WMA on August 1, 2026, and is rebuilding fences in stages.
