Pioneer Cemetery lies in the far north of Sioux County, in Section 33 of Township 35 north, Range 54 west, near the South Dakota line. The county's records give it as Pioneer or Hat Creek Cemetery, and both names may be needed. It is listed under Montrose, the nearest place in the county, about four miles to the south-west.

Around 27 memorials have been recorded, which is a record of what has been photographed and indexed rather than a count of everyone buried there.

For burial records or plot inquiries, contact the Sioux County Clerk in Harrison. Ownership can also be confirmed through the Nebraska Statewide Cemetery Registry at the State Historical Society.
