Headworks Park, about 6 miles west of Genoa on NE 22, is a 17-acre Loup Power District park where the Loup Power Canal takes its water from the Loup River. Camping is free, with electric hookups and primitive sites, open May 1 to November 1, weather permitting; no reservations, a 7-day limit in any 30 days, and no water hookups or dump station. There are picnic tables, grills, a playground, summer restrooms, swimming (no lifeguard), fishing and walking along the canal road; alcohol is not allowed. Park status line (402) 562-5709.
