Davis Creek Recreation Area, about 5½ miles south of North Loup off NE 11 on the Valley–Greeley county line, surrounds a 1,145-acre irrigation reservoir behind a dam the Bureau of Reclamation finished in 1991. The Lower Loup NRD runs two campgrounds with about 74 electric sites, about half reservable online, plus a shower house, boat ramps, a fish-cleaning station, playgrounds and trails; walleye, crappie, bass, pike and catfish are caught here. Water levels drop in late summer as irrigation draws the lake down. Phone (308) 728-3221.
