The Sudman-Neumann Heritage House, 701 5th St. at Vincent Avenue in Chappell, was built in 1911 by contractor Henry Dickmeyer for Fred and Minnie Sudman and was the first house in town with electric lights and running water. The Sudman grandchildren gave it to the city in 1989, and the Chappell Museum Association runs it as a museum with period furniture and a permanent display on U.S. Rep. Virginia Smith; it also hosts teas, card parties and Christmas events. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Fred and Minnie Meyer Sudman House. Open Sundays 2–4 p.m. from May to Labor Day, or by appointment.
