Abandoned town site · Dawson County · post office 1902–1923
About Darr
Darr is an abandoned town site in Dawson County, on US 30 and NE 21 about 6 miles east-southeast of Cozad and 8 miles west-northwest of Lexington, at about 2,450 feet. There is nothing to visit; some of the land is private.
History
Darr was platted in 1902 and named for George B. Darr, the original owner of the town site; it was also known as Cayote, or Coyote. The post office ran from 1902 to 1923. In 2022 the Dawson County commissioners voted to vacate the streets and alleys of the original plat so that a hay company could subdivide the ground.
