Murdock is a village in Cass County, Nebraska, with a population of 270 at the 2020 census (up from 236 in 2010). It was founded in December 1890 as a water-station town along the Rock Island Railroad.

History

According to local accounts, two area residents were offered the chance to have the new town named for them and declined, so it was instead named for a railroad official. Murdock grew into a community of roughly 200 residents, many of German immigrant descent, and once supported grain elevators, a Farmers Union cooperative, a German Evangelical church built in 1905, and a school dating to 1892.
